Thrombosis and Endothelial Injury

چکیده
did not meet the criteria: this point was detailed in the fifth paragraph of the discussion. According to our criteria it is not true that after exclusion of 6 patients with associated infarcts, 7 of the 10 remaining subjects fulfilled criteria for small-vessel occlusion: none of these 10 did. Only 1 patient (of 16) met criteria for small vessel-occlusion in our study, this patient had an associated ipsilateral thalamic infarct (see table). Dr Bruno agrees with the general conclusion of our study: the rule "anterior choroidal artery territory infarct=small-vessel occlusion" is not true for all patients, and patients with such infarcts should be systematically evaluated for possible large-vessel disease and cardioembolism. This remains the finding most important to determining the best therapeutic strategy for the secondary prevention of stroke in these patients.

Deep Vein Thrombosis, Pulmonary Embolism and Related Factors in Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury
Background and Objective:Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are fatal problems following brain trauma that, if left untreated, can dramatically increase mortality. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and related factors in patients with traumatic brain injury. Materials and Methods:This cross-sectional study was performed on 38 patie...
متن کاملInteractions of Aspergillus fumigatus with endothelial cells: internalization, injury, and stimulation of tissue factor activity.
Invasive aspergillosis causes significant mortality among patients with hematologic malignancies. This infection is characterized by vascular invasion and thrombosis. To study the pathogenesis of invasive aspergillosis, we investigated the interactions of Aspergillus fumigatus conidia and hyphae with endothelial cells in vitro. We found that both forms of the organism induced endothelial cell m...
متن کاملHypereosinophilic Cardiac Involvement Presenting With Left Ventricular Massive Thrombus and Cardioembolic Stroke: A Case Report
Introduction: It is well known that the tendency toward thrombosis is increased in cancer patients. The increase in cancer procoagulant and tissue factor levels, endothelial damage, and stasis due to compression are among the most accused causes of thrombosis in cancer patients. Hypereosinophilia is a rare condition that causes endothelial damage leading to thrombosis. <s...
متن کاملCORRELATION BE TWEEN ENDOTHELIAL INJURY AND CEREBRAL VASOSPASM FOLLOWING A DOUBLE SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE IN THE RAT
While a wide array of pathological changes occur in cerebral arteries following subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), the most consistent is endothelial damage. Since the endothelium normally modulates reflexes that influence vascular tone, any damage to it may represent a significant contributor to cerebral vasospasm following SAH. This experimental study investigates the correlation between end...

متن کاملEndothelial PPAR-γ protects against vascular thrombosis by downregulating P-selectin expression.
OBJECTIVE We tested the hypothesis that endothelial peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ protects against vascular thrombosis using a transgenic mouse model expressing a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ mutant (E-V290M) selectively in endothelium. APPROACH AND RESULTS The time to occlusive thrombosis of the carotid artery was significantly shortened in E-V290M mice compare...
